    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    Our Tutors are leaders. They’re helping to shape the future of New Zealand’s workplaces. When you join our team of Tutors, you’ll be joining a supportive, collaborative team who are proud to be growing the literacy and numeracy skills of learners in the workplace.

    Your key responsibilities will be to:

    • Deliver a quality, contextualised, literacy, language and numeracy programme to small groups of employees in a workplace setting
    • Participate in the planning and preparation of the programme to ensure the content meets both the learners’ literacy, language and numeracy development needs as well as the business needs of the employer and their business. This includes lesson plans and a programme of learning.
    • Participate in assessing learners’ needs using the TEC Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool and other assessments where appropriate
    • Analyse learner needs in relation to the workplace; analysis will support programme and content development
    • Help learners develop their individual learning plans with support from other team members, and support the achievement of learners’ goals
    • Measure and record learner progress regularly against learner goals and customer expectations
    • Submit programme reports at required intervals (approximately 3 during a programme)
    • Work with the team to monitor and review effectiveness of the delivery and learning through the implementation of programme evaluations and professional practice reflections processes
    • Build and maintain effective relationships with the relevant employer and their designated personnel to enhance learner participation and attendance in the programme.
    • Comply with Health and Safety requirements of the business
    • Use a strengths-based approach when developing relationships with adult learners. Showing respect and care and giving value to what learners know already; acknowledging their values, their belief systems, culture, life experiences and work skills to help build new learning.

    • Professionalism and understanding of business considerations and the ability to work across a range of environments to inspire confidence of employers and learners
    • You will have great interpersonal skills to maintain the relationships you will build with learners
    • Your commitment to providing our customers with a high level of service will be evident by your excellent client relationships and client management skills
    • You will have excellent planning and organisation skills
    • Have knowledge of or familiarity with Te Reo Māori and tikanga or have knowledge of a Pasifika language and cultures
    • ESOL experience will also be very useful and valued
    • Excel spreadsheet skills will also be useful for recording and reporting tasks
